This special event was organized by the U.S. Department of State and George Washington University and attended by Minister of Energy of the United States Ernest Moniz, Deputy Secretary of State for International Security Rose Gottemoeller, Assistant Secretary of State for Non-Proliferation Thomas Countryman, Senior Director of U.S. National Security Council Laura Holgate.

The participants discussed the situation with implementation of the program speech of U.S. President Barack Obama, delivered in Prague in 2009, which called for global nuclear disarmament and strengthening the security of sensitive materials that can be used to create weapons of mass destruction.

On the second day of the event held at the Elliott School for International Affairs, George Washington University, the Embassy representative, Counselor Andriy Nikitov delivered remarks along with the representatives of diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic and Argentina. He spoke about the implementation of the initiative of President of Ukraine V.Yanukovych and U.S. President B.Obama on securing nuclear materials and on Ukraine-U.S. cooperation in the field of nuclear security.
