On July 18, 2013 Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk met with Jan Wondra, Chair of the Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption. They discussed pressing issues of Ukraine-U.S. relations in the sphere of inter-country adoption.
The Ambassador emphasized that Ukrainian President and Government keep the issue of rights of children adopted from Ukraine under scrutiny. O.Motsyk engaged attention to the importance of submitting by the American adoptive families post-placement reports to the Ukraine’s diplomatic missions in the U.S.
Also, the Ambassador informed of the measures taken by Ukraine to ratify The Hague Adoption Convention on the Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Inter-Country Adoption concluded in 1993.
For her part, J.Wondra assured that Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption will contribute greatly to Ukraine’s diplomatic missions in the U.S. in receiving post-placement reports from the American families that adopted children from Ukraine.
