On November 18, 2013, the Heritage Foundation, an influential American think-tank, held a roundtable on the perspectives of the Eastern Partnership Vilnius summit.
Ambassadors of Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Lithuania to the U.S. took part in the event, which was moderated by a prominent American political scientist A.Cohen and attended by representatives of the Department of State, Department of Defense, U.S. Congress staff, diplomatic corps, media and experts.
Ambassador Olexander Motsyk informed the audience of Ukraine’s steps in the realization of its course of European integration and ensuring the signature of the Association Agreement with the EU at the Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit. An emphasis was made on the existence of a wide consensus regarding Ukraine’s European integration among all political forces, business and scientific elites, as well as the civil society.
Ambassador of Ukraine expressed his confidence that the Agreement on Association and the DCFTA with the EU will be signed at the Vilnius summit. O.Motsyk underlined that the signing of this document will facilitate further democratization and strengthening of the market economy in Ukraine and neighboring states, and will be beneficial in the strategic perspective for the entire region, including the Russian Federation.
