June 3, 2011 Ambassador Olexander Motsyk traveled with working visit to Houston, Texas. Ambassador Motsyk joined the Ukrainian delegation headed by Deputy Minister for culture of Ukraine Oleksandra Gubina at the exhibition opening ceremony. The exhibition called «Ancient Ukraine: golden treasures, lost civilizations and sacred images» has been displayed at the Houston Museum of Natural Science in Texas. The delegation included main sponsors of the exhibitions in the USA - leading Ukrainian businessmen and philanthropists Serhij Taruta and Mykola Platonov and also directors of Ukrainian museums.
In his welcoming address at the ceremony Ambassador Motsyk called the exhibition a great event in the bilateral relationships between Ukraine and the United States in the cultural sphere. He particularly emphasized that the exhibition will provide a wonderful opportunity for American audience to learn more about the diverse historic and cultural heritage of Ukraine.
Starting from the next day, the exhibition drew a great interest among Houston and Texas communities. Some of the guests already heard about Ukraine or had a chance to visit our country before, but for the majority of those who come to the exhibition «Ancient Ukraine: golden treasures, lost civilizations and sacred images» Ukrainian art became a true discovery and they admired the World value of this rare collection of ancient artifacts.
The organizers expect that after three months during which the exhibition will be demonstrated in Houston, it will be attended by over ten thousand Texans and the guests of the state.
