On May 2nd, 2011 the Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine - Deputy Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs Mr. A.Kozhara, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Science and Education Mr. M.Lutsky, Chairman of the Subcommittee on International Economic Policy of the Parliamentary Committee on economic policy Mr. O.Plotnikov, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Television and Radio Broadcasting of the Parliamentary Committee on freedom of expression and information Mrs. O.Bondarenko, member of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Banking affairs, taxation and customs policy V.Kalyuzhny met with the representatives of the Ukrainian Diaspora organizations in the US.

During the meeting at the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York the members of Ukrainian Parliament responded to numerous questions of the Ukrainian NGOs in the USA representatives, exchanged views on a wide range of political and economic issues associated with the current trends and new aspects of Ukrainian internal and foreign policy.

People’s deputies have informed in details an audience of the Ukrainian community of the US on current political situation in Ukraine, paying special attention to economically motivated, pragmatic and constructive course of reform and democratization, which is implemented by the President, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the coalition ‘Stability and Reform’ in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

During the meeting the members of Parliament underlined the importance of continued cooperation between Ukrainian authorities and Ukrainian community abroad in order to strengthen Ukraine’s sovereignty and independence and maintain a positive image of our country on the international scene, expressing their firm belief in irreversibility of the current consolidating processes in Ukraine aimed primarily at the improving of the living standards of the Ukrainian people.
