Ambassador of Ukraine in the US Valeriy Chaly met with Melanne Verveer, Executive Director of a Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security and Co-Chair of Seneca Women Initiative, who most recently served as the first U.S. Ambassador for Global Women’s Issues. Melanne Verveer is a well-known advocate of gender issues as well as a dedicated supporter of Ukraine in the United States.
Valeriy Chaly and Melanne Verveer discussed the situation in Ukraine with special attention to reforms implementation and application of the world’s best practices. Speaking about the reforms Melanne Verveeer has also accepted an invitation to join Ukraine’s International Advisory Council for Reforms under the auspices of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
These days Melanne Verveer also presents a book “Fast Forward: How Woman Can Achieve Power and Purpose” written together with Co-Chair of Seneca Women Kim Azzarelli, a business, philanthropic, and legal advisor focused on advancing women and girls. The foreword to the book is contributed by Hillary R. Clinton.
