On May 31, 2012, the Embassy of Ukraine hosted an Olexander Archypenko event to commemorate the 125th anniversary of famous Ukrainian and American painter and sculptor - Olexander Porfyrovych Archypenko.
The creative work of Archypenko had a great influence on the development of modernist art, including architecture and design in Europe and America. Archypenko’s works turned the world’s idea about sculpture of the beginning of XX century, and his name takes a worthy place among the great artists of the twentieth century.
The program included unforgettable pieces of the folk music performed by talented musicians Andrei Pidkivka (flute) and Solomia Gorokhivska (violin). Following the concert the guests were invited to watch the documentary about Ukraine and enjoy the rare collection of artistic pieces, as well as indulge in traditional Ukrainian dishes.
