On December 7, 2015, the Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. had a reception dedicated to the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Chargé d'affaires of Ukraine in US Yaroslav Brisiuck, Defense Attaché Major-General Volodymyr Havrilov, as well as U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Security Cooperation Tommy Ross, and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control Frank Rose addressed the audience, which included representatives of U.S. government agencies and Armed Forces, the US Congress, defense industry, foreign diplomatic missions, and the Ukrainian diaspora.
The speakers underlined the strategic nature of Ukraine-U.S. cooperation in the defense sphere. Representatives of the U.S. Government emphasized that the United States will continue to stand by Ukraine as it defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity from foreign aggression, and implements important reforms.
Special thanks was expressed to the staff of US military medical facilities treating Ukrainian wounded soldiers, some of whom were able to attend the event, as well as to the volunteers and the Ukrainian Diaspora for their support.
