During the meeting Ambassador Chaly expressed sincere gratitude for the humanitarian aid which was collected by the citizens of the City of Seattle and sent to Ukraine. He underlined that Ukraine is deeply interested not only in developing intergovernmental ties, but also in enhancing cooperation between Ukrainian and American cities and regions.
According to the Ambassador, establishing and promoting bilateral ties on the regional level would help Ukrainian local authorities to learn more about the highly efficient and flexible American system of local self-governance and to implement the best practices in Ukraine.
Mayor Murray backed Ambassador’s idea to develop partnership relations with Ukrainian city of Lviv.
Special attention was paid to further development of economic and investment cooperation. Ambassador Valeriy Chaly called on Seattle’s companies to explore opportunities of investing in Ukrainian economy and to establish direct contacts with Ukrainian business communities as well as to start joint projects with specific focus on trade and investment.
