The Ukrainian community of Washington DC celebrated Independence Day of Ukraine at the Ukrainian Catholic Holy Trinity Church in Silver Spring, MD together with the Ukrainian diplomats including Ambassador's wife Liudmyla Mazuka, Ukrainian wounded warrior Oleksander Kosolapov, who underwent treatment and rehabilitation in Walter Reed National Medical Military Center, representatives of NGOs, Ukrainian diaspora and clergy.

Ambassador of Ukraine Valeriy Chaly, who was traveling to Ukraine at the time, extended greetings to the participants in his welcome remarks read at the ceremony. 
The participants paid tribute to the fallen Ukrainian heros in a minute of silence and honored the National Flag and the National Anthem of Ukraine.
