On January 23-24, 2013 Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Olexander Motsyk paid a working visit to Arizona.
On January 23, 2013 a grand ceremony of the opening of the Honorary Consulate in Tucson took place. Ambassador Olexander Motsyk and Honorary Consul Taras Warvariv signed an agreement on the functions and duties of the latter. The grand ceremony was attended by representatives of the official and business circles of Tucson, Ukrainian community, as well as local consular corps.
Also, O.Motsyk visited an exhibition “Murder by Hunger – Ukraine’s Holodomor – art through the eyes of children” at the University of Arizona wherein he delivered a speech and participated in the prayer service commemorating Holodomor victims in Ukraine of 1932-1933.
On January 24, 2013 Ambassador O.Motsyk introduced the Honorary Consul in Tucson T.Warvariv to the consular corps of the Arizona capital Phoenix and held a working meeting with Phoenix Mayor – Greg Stanton. They discussed an opportunity to establish an effective trade and economic cooperation along with cultural and humanitarian one as well as partnership in the field of education between various Ukrainian entities and those of Phoenix. Prospects for developing sister city relations with one of the Ukrainian cities and Phoenix were also discussed.
O.Motsyk had a meeting with Ukrainian Community of Arizona and visited Ukrainian Cultural Center.
